AAA Game and Top-tier Animation Course

Course Overview

Computer Graphics and 3D Animation Programme specialising in the film and gaming industries, with emphasis on character animation and rigging techniques. The major falls under the Diploma in Film or Game Computer Graphics + 3D Animation.

The programme comprises two stages:

  • Foundation and Core Stage (building and deepening skills)
  • Mentor-Guided Stage (portfolio refinement)

The animation module framework is outlined below in simplified terms based on the syllabus (focusing on tools such as Maya, Blender, and MotionBuilder; practical projects encompass the full creative workflow from concept design to dynamic animation).

CG + 3D Animation Film and Game Certificate Program

From Fundamentals to Advanced Production
01
Introduction to Foundational Principles & Professional Techniques : 12 animation principles (squash and stretch, timing control), keyframe setup, pose design, action overlap, secondary motion, facial animation, lip sync, crowd dynamics, physical effects, performance optimisation

Core Curriculum :
  • 2D/3D animation fundamentals (bouncing, walking, emotional running, interaction, stunts, emotional expression, biome design)
  • Skeleton rigging: foundational to intermediate (simple skeletons, deformers, inverse/forward motion conversion, custom rigging, simulation techniques)
  • Dynamic storyboarding and refinement (from keyframe drafts to final polishing; visual development and integration)
  • Production workflow (animation integration into team pipelines, e.g., Unreal Engine implementation; AAA game/film theory)
Practical Project:
  • Foundational motions (e.g., bouncing sphere or walking loop completed within two weeks)
  • Intermediate project – short sequence animation (e.g., game level dialogue or combat scene, 8-12 weeks)
  • Complex sequences such as environmental interactions (focusing on visual effects/game specifications)
Course Objectives : Establish core competencies to integrate into and specialise within the production pipeline; incorporating weekly challenges, real-time Q&A, collaborative exercises, feedback mechanisms, and authentic time constraints

Software Used : Maya, Photoshop, Blender; additionally covering motion builder motion re-timing and foundational Adobe After Effects applications

Duration
40 Weeks
Intake
FEB / MAR / OCT
Customised Refinement : Customized for film or game fields (e.g., AAA-level work breakdown analysis)

Core Curriculum :
  • Graduation Project (Capstone Course: Complete animation portfolio, e.g., short film excerpts)
  • Advanced Techniques (Pacing Refinement, Feedback Loops)
  • Portfolio Development (Guided by game studio professionals)
Practical Projects : Industry-standard portfolios; weekly mentor-guided practical sessions

Course Objectives : Refine employability skills; establish professional networks with mentors (20+ years industry experience)
