McTecc International Academy (“McTecc”) respects the privacy of all individuals and is committed to protecting personal data in compliance with the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486) of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) (amended 2021). This statement explain show McTecc collects, uses, and discloses personal data. By applying to become a student, using McTecc’s services, or interacting with McTecc through its website, events, or affiliated platforms, you consent to the processing of your personal data as described herein. McTecc reserves the right to update this statement at any time without prior notice, and updates will be posted on the official website. Continued use of our services after such updates constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
2. Privacy Principles
McTecc adheres to internationally recognised privacy principles. Personal data will be collected lawfully and fairly, with the individual’s knowledge and consent. It will be used only for the purposes stated at the time of collection or for related compatible purposes, and retained only for as long as necessary to fulfil those purposes. McTecc ensures that all personal data remains accurate, complete, and up-to-date. Reasonable security safeguards are implemented to protect data against unauthorised access, disclosure, loss, or misuse.
If you provide personal data of another individual, you confirm that you have obtained that person’s consent. For individuals under 18 years of age, parental or guardian consent is required before submitting any personal data.
3. Categories and Sources of Personal Data
Types of Personal Data: Personal data may include name, identification number, contact information, academic and financial records, photographs, video or audio recordings, attendance records, awards, research details, and technical data such as IP address or device logs. Sensitive information such as health conditions or disabilities, may also be collected where necessary.
Sources of Personal Data: Data may be obtained directly from students, parents, guardians, staff, alumni, or service providers ,or indirectly from affiliated institutions and partners through application forms, events, or online platforms.
Mandatory Data: For McTecc students and alumni, providing personal data is mandatory for academic and administrative purposes.
4. Purpose of Collection and Use
McTecc collects and processes personal data for legitimate academic, administrative, and institutional purposes, grouped as follows:
Academic Administration – registration, course matching, academic record management, assessment, examinations, and certification of awards.
Student Services & Support – counselling, visa and insurance assistance, fee payment processing, event participation, and alumni relations.
Institutional Planning & Compliance – statistical analysis, internal reporting, research, benchmarking, and fulfilment of obligations to authorities such as the Education Bureau (EduHK) and HKCAAVQ.
Employment & Human Resources – recruitment assessment, staff training and appraisal, and verification of qualifications or background checks.
Promotion & Outreach – marketing, event communications, scholarship announcements, and lawful promotional activities.
5. Disclosure and Transfer of Personal Data
McTecc may disclose personal data through its academic, student administration, and support departments to authorised staff and agents when necessary for institutional functions.
Your personal data may also be disclosed to the following parties for legitimate purposes:
- Student sponsors, parents, or guardians;
- Government loan departments, funding agencies, and their authorised representatives;
- McTecc’s partner or affiliated universities;
- Any person required to be contacted under government or statutory directives;
- Professional, statutory, or accreditation bodies relevant to academic program requirements;
- Statutory bodies related to employees and employment matters;
- Third parties providing internship or practicum opportunities (where applicable);
- Organisers of competitions or activities for award presentation purposes;
- Authorised external verification parties such as potential employers, government agencies, scholarship providers, professional organisations, or background check companies (for qualification verification);
- Educational institutions or placement agencies (for further study or academic progression);
- McTecc’s business partners, agents, contractors, subcontractors, service providers, suppliers, regulatory authorities, or industry bodies;
- Insurance providers, banks, training centres, auditors, consultants, accountants, lawyers, courier and postal service providers.
- Where necessary to prevent or reduce a serious and imminent threat to life or health, McTecc may disclose personal data to appropriate authorities or emergency contacts.
For students, academic records may be retained indefinitely for statistical or research purposes.
Graduate contact details will be included in McTecc’s alumni database for future communication, networking, or professional development purposes.
McTecc may also use student information for institutional publicity or promotional activities, including publication of outstanding academic achievements, research grants, photographs, recordings, and awards received locally or internationally.
Disclosure by Authorisation:
McTecc may disclose tuition or academic progress information to third parties upon written authorisation from the student. Such requests must be submitted in writing to the Student Services Department.
Cross-Border Data Transfer:
As McTecc’s data servers and IT facilities may be located in other jurisdictions, your personal data maybe transferred, stored, or processed outside HKSAR for the purposes described in this statement. Where data is transferred internationally, McTecc will take reasonable steps to ensure the receiving parties provide protection equivalent to that required under HKSAR’s Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Amendment 2021).
By providing your personal data, you acknowledge and consent to such transfers, including to jurisdictions that may not have the same level of data protection as HKSAR.
6. Data Security and Retention
McTecc takes appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse. Data will only be retained as long as necessary for its purpose or as required by law. Academic data is generally retained for seven years, and financial data for ten years.
7. Website and Cookies
McTecc’s website may use cookies to enhance user experience. You can adjust your browser settings to refuse cookies, but this may affect functionality. External links provided on McTecc’s website are for convenience only, and McTecc is not responsible for their privacy practices.
8. Access, Correction, and Opt-out Rights
You have the right to access or correct your personal data and to withdraw consent for its continued use. Requests should be made in writing to info@mcteccacademy.com. In accordance with the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance, a prescribed processing fee may be charged for handling data access requests. You may also choose to opt out of marketing communications at any time.

In the unlikely event of a data breach, McTecc will promptly assess the nature, scope, and potential impact of the incident.
Affected individuals will be notified within a reasonable timeframe once the risk has been verified. McTecc will take all necessary remedial and preventive measures in accordance with the best practices of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486).
